One word: Longetivity.

Put rewards up for people to obtain something. Like the thing people have with bonuses and quests. You get 1000xp for a bonus, whoopdedoo. After level 20, that is nothing. Why to people do it then? It's not a gold sink, it has no practical use. So why is it there then? It is something to obtain, to achieve.

I will argue all for this being implemented, but if the devs say no, then well, it's no.

I don't know why people do it...I don't leave a mission until I have completed the bonus for it....so there would be no need to go back and do it after I hit level 20.

you can attain 1 million experience without being given an aura...you still know you did it. So if all you want is personal achievement then why would you need an aura anyway????you want EVERYONE else to know you got there...I don't support anything pretentious or braggartly in nature. If the only purpose of something is to show people how great you are...I am avidly against it.

but just because you can compleat a mission and the bonus, dosent mean that everyone can, and some people will go back and finish them because they feel the need too.

how do you manage in the world, if you are so against showing off? as soon as i go outside to work, i am faced with people showing off. or do you mean only in games and similar situations?

a glowing Aura is something people with too much time want so they can show off how UBER they are in towns.....it's completely unnecessary.

and 1kk exp isn't free....the amount of time it would take me to get 1kk exp would cost me tens of thousands of dollars(REAL MONEY)...and ostentatious has nothing to do with money at all...its being outwardly showboaty for the sake of attention...and for no other reason.

Lucky you, I had about 350gold left - must be doing something wrong, eh ?

I never said that others could finish the bonus the first time through....or that they decide not to do it and will go back to it...I said that I don't leave until I have finished the bonus...so I don't have any room to comment on his post.

to answer your question....the every day actions of most people make me sick.

Andy: maybe....

Heh for YOU black dye isn't hard to get. But that doesn't mean that it is for everyone, if it did then it would be worth so much. Maybe you will not be able to have 1 million xp.... but there are people that can.

It's rewards by degrees, being able to afford something is as much of a reward as something that may be unattainable. Same can be said for armor, one could argue I don't have enough timne to play so I 'll never get the armor. Does that mean it shouldn't serve as a reward?

You are right the xp isn't a gold sink per say...but then again if you constantly upgrade you equipment to get there perhaps it still serves a purpose in the economy.

so you're saying that by some stroke of luck or God's will(if you believe in god)...I get black dye drops and nobody else does? I've been able to play the game the way the game was designed to be played and actually recieve drops of value...and most people have not? I haven't done ANYTHING outside of playing the game the way it is designed to be played and have thus far had no trouble with gold(I don't need 200 plat...NOBODY needs 200plat)or dye. I don't get more gold weapon/armor drops or purple drops than anyone else does...i've had three gold drops and couple dozen purples.(most of which I've given away because they are useless to me)...I don't know why everyone else has had such difficulty with dye/gold/rare drops....but I for one am not going to condone a feature that rewards mindless grind in an attempt to achieve something as vain as an aura of glow to let everyone else know just how uber-leet you are.

GOD SHUT UP ABOUT STUPID TOPICS THAT DONT PERTAIN TO WHATS GOING ON

people that play this game more SHOULD have something to show for it.

If you dont play that much, thats your problem. If Anet thinks that people that dont play deserve the same rewards as people that do, they're being jerks.

Black dyes and Armor are a totally different thing. You dont even have to play much to get those, you can have 1kk gold and buy all the dye you want. You can get run to droknars and pay 5k for it.

But 1kk exp takes things like FoW and UW which no matter what, is a hassle. People that play it as much as I do, deserve something to show for it. If you dont like show offs, honestly I dont care. I want people to know that I deserve that aura

I'm not too crazy about having an aura after reaching 1 million xp (or any number of it). I would prefer Anet devote their time in correcting bugs and adding other contents that would prove useful and fun. I don't find having people running around with aura around them (or even around me) as "fun", especially later on when majority of the players will have an aura (I think that would get visually irritating).

Now, if they give us an aura for killing a river skale ... that would be awesome!! It will show everyone my achievement and thus show me respect! [/end sarcasm].

What?

There could be degrees of rewards. Like 1kk gets aura, 5kk gets new armor, 10kk gets like....flying power.

You know, I always thought that was a silly sort of line for a song, since that part IS about this person who is vain (JT I presume). So if they think it's about them, they are right. I suppose being vain and right are not mutually exclusive. It might be difficult to point out someone's vanity without the song being about them.

Flying powers, LOL! That would be very interesting.

I understand the "rewards" idea, but having auras might not be the best way to implement it. Imagine going into a town and seeing 95% of the people there glowing. The whole place will be like a rainbow that crashed into the ground and exploded. I wouldn't find that visually appealing. But like I said, I would prefer Anet devote more of their time in fixing bugs and adding contents.

To the OP, you know you need on the order of TEN MILLION XP to unlock all the skills in the game on a single char, since they patched the xp wall. Before that it was closer to FORTY MILLION, and about a million GP to buy skills and cap signets. That doesn't include the costs of going into UW and Fissure.

Nope, I'm saying that it's not easy to get for everybody. Just because it isn't a big deal to you to get it's hard for some folks.

I've never gotten a black dye drop ok? I get lots of purples, and gold items but never had a black dye drop let alon enough for the whole set of armor. I'm not too stressed about it as you can tell, but maybe someone really wants a black suit of armor to think he's cool... maybe he has to work a little harder to get it. Same with 1 mil xp, I'll probably never get it either but if someone want to have something that says he's cool..well if it keeps him playing and maybe gets someone else to KEEP playing as inspiration, cool.

that's good for the game isn't it?

eww, not a bug.....

maybe something else, but not a damn bug.....*shudders at the thought of entering an area where for any reason, people have huge bugs over thier heads....*

maybe wings, halos, horns or other imagery..perhaps something per class, the ether size of which or, no scratch that, the shade of which perhaps is deeper or darker or lighter, depending on the class, but nae to the bugs >.>
